School is comprised of Electrical Theory, hands on classes and college for an associates degree or at least some earned credit for those who already hold a degree. It takes approximately 5 1/2 - 6 years to become a journeyman in our local.

For me, I love being an electrician. However, if I had to do it all over again I would go into computer programming since it's my hobby. I know for a fact I wouldn't choose a different trade over being an electrician. Also being an electrician has nothing to do with being an engineer. The two don't correlate. 5.
